If a fighter loses an eight-round bout, does it have any effect on his ranking?

Yes and No...

Officially, on the fighter's point tally, it doesn't have an effect since only 10 and 12 rounders are considered...

However, 8 round fights are taken into consideration as a tie breaker for when two fighters (or more) have the same point total...
