Sonny Boy Jaro for March so far, fighter, also the fight itself for FOTM. He battered Pongsaklek from pillar to post.

Agree with you Green, don't think Huck/Povetkin was good enough to take the spoils even though it was a bigger name fight. Jaro has it sealed for FOTM already.

Thanks for the input guys.

The official announcement is here: http://thebtbc.com/index.php?topic=6287.msg44528#msg44528

Remember: if you come across something later on, the award can always be added to or changed.  Sometimes we come across fights from overseas after the fact, so feel free to mention one if you see it.

I heard about that one, but didn't see it yet.

I'll give it a look and we can either change the award for February or make it a co-winner since it was a Feb. fight.  If we're already talking fight of the year nominee though...it'll most likely bump Vargas-Tyner to runner up.

I've updated the award, gave Montes-Ibarra FOTM with Vargas-Tyner runner up status.

March Fight of the Month nominee :

Salido-Lopez II

Does Salido deserve a Fighter of the Month mention for that win?

Fighter of the Month nominee:

Kerry Hope.

He stunned Grzegorz Proksa of Poland yesterday, the guy who stopped Sebastian Sylvester in 3, winning a majority decision to win the European middleweight title. Plus he's Welsh Wink.

As it sits now, I'm leaning towards Sonny Boy Jaro for fighter OTM and Salido-Lopez II as Fight OTM unless there's any objections or other info I missed out on...or a real great fight pops up some time tonight  Wink

A slow month so far...

a Fight of the Month nominee: Albert Mensah v. Michael Katsidis, ESPN Friday Night Fights, 04-13-2012

I haven't yet seen any of the Japanese fights from earlier in the month.  Anything else happening out there?

Mensah could maybe slip in as fighter of the month, that was a huge win for a guy who's spent nearly all his career fighting in Ghana. I really thought Katsidis was going to run him. Mensah fought a smart fight and got a well deserved W over a good fighter

True.  Another noteworthy performance...Richard Abril.  I've got to watch the fight still but from what I';ve read it seems like he won the fight.  I have no problem giving the loser FOTM especially if he's ripped off.
