For 2012 I was wondering what you all thought of the fight / fighter of the month idea for our forums. This would be dependent on the membership of course, I doubt anyone here gets to see ALL of the action shown in a months time. Let me know what you think.
I liked the upset thread we had going for a bit last year, maybe we can get one going this year too.

OK BTBC members, we're giving this a go. To really make this work we're going to need you guys with access to fights outside the U.S. to make us aware of any great fight or performance you come across. None of us can watch every fight out there so if you happen across a good one please post a link or let us know so we can at least give it a fair mention.
Everything is fair game, men, women, four rounders, main events, even those "Bigger's Better" fights...if it's a top fight or great KO put it in the mix and we'll make the call on it.
The more people take part the better this will be, so have at it!

Yeah, I gave up much needed sleep time to watch that fight. It nearly put me to sleep. Well, I'm all for adding a worst of the month also so let's keep it going! I thought for a minute that Ramos-Beltran would be our first post in the upset thread too.

EDIT: I had it even at 95-95, but it seems that Beltran 96-94 is the more popular score.

So far, I really enjoyed watching Omar Figueroa. He showed me that he is a real fighter in defeating Michael Perez. I appreciated his commitment to body punching and bad intentions with his pressure fighting style. He needs to work on his defense but he has time.
I am glad they stopped the fight because i did not need to see a young fighter like Michael Perez take too much of a beating. He can learn from this defeat and come back stronger. This match up is something positive that GBP did which is hard to keep in mind given their on-going actions against Peterson.

I agree. Fighter of the weekend hands down is Omar Figueroa, who really blitzed his way through Michael Perez and took some few crisp shots early on. He's got a fan friendly style and I see him turning into ShoBox's version of Ruslan Provodnikov. Hopefully he gets another TV date later in the year.

Anything to add for this past weekend? I didn't see the U.K. bouts, nothing on the Germany card that really made a case for being added from what I saw. Kennedy-Martin looked good from what I saw of it but is it worth mentioning?

Leon Williams vs. Shane McPhilbin Williams was winning every round, had McPhilbin down in the first and sixth, but was stopped in the 12th. Unexpected finish, was great live.

Nice one, I'd say that's good enough to make McPhilbin a Fighter of the Month nominee. I heard the announcers say something about an upset so I'll throw this in the upsets thread as well.
Thanks for posting that!
